the olympics are so powerful as a symbol and a movement. if you have the opportunity to go sometime, i highly recommend it as a spectator, athlete, or as a volunteer.

well, after the current unrest and crackdown in tibet this dream unfortunately now has approximately zero chance of success. But not exactly zero. If china actually decided to work with world opinion, and start dialog directly with the dalai lama over the situation in tibet, then perhaps this is still possible? i think china has really closed that door though recently by accusing the dalai lama for masterminding the unrest and the need for their martial law in those regions. so sad.
